ABSTRACT
This
research revolved on the Impact of the Mass Media campaign in reducing malaria disease, a case study of Osun State. It is evident from the findings of this
study that mass media especially radio and television are playing a very
crucial role in reducing malarial and maternal death among people by way of
regular sensitization and education programmes. There is no gain saying in the
fact that mass media is one of the major powerful tools of reducing malaria. A critical review to
related literature was made. Relevant theories were used to gratify the study,
social responsibility theory of the press is the 1947 Hutchins commission
report on the role of the press in the society. Quantitative research design
was used in which cross-sectional survey method was adopted while the data
collection instrument was questionnaire. However, one hundred and twenty respondents
were drawn from Osun state using questionnaire while out of 120 administered
questionnaires 100 were returned upon which the analysis was based. Finally,
one of the recommendations made is that the mass media should put more effort
on her socio responsibility of campaign for transformation that will enhance
development both socially and economically.
