ABSTRACT
The research examined
the role of outside broadcasting van (ob-link) on the television coverage of
live political activities (A case study of NTA and AIT). It is safe to conclude
that such technique brings political activities to the people as it is happen.
It reduced the amount of information the gatekeepers can keep. On the other
hand, many events that are given live coverage through OB-Link does merit it,
but were transmitted in favour of the top political office holders such as:
marriage, birthday, funeral and many more. Survey research method was adopted
coupled with 100 copies of questionnaires that were administered to the
respondents within NTA and AIT Lagos of which 90 copies were returned. It is
recommended that media planners and top media management team should try not to
abuse the OB-Van in favour political gladiators. Also, training should be
organized for staff regularly on how to discharge their duties during outside
transmission. Outside Broadcasting equipment should be should be upgrade,
maintain to prevent breaking down or mal-functioning of equipment.
