ABSTRACT
This
research examined the role of radio listenership pattern among the people in
Ilorin. News and Political programmes dominated the common radio pattern of
people in Ilorin. It was obvious that many of the respondents listen to radio
programmes and many respondents listen to radio programmes regularly. Lots of
respondents have access to at least 4-7 radio stations and highest percentage
of the respondents spend 1-2 hours listen to radio programmes. Survey research
method was adopted and 100 copies of questionnaires were printed and
distributed to 100 respondents and 90 copies of questionnaires were retrieved.
Analysis and interpretation of the data was achieved through the use of frequency
and percentage method. It was recommended that for radio to be able to play
this important and significant role in community development, it must keep out
of politics religion and highlight on gender issues.
