This
study appraising the contribution of broadcasting media in educating rural
women towards contraceptives (A case
study of women in Iree Community). The results indicated that mass media play
important roles in disseminating contraceptive knowledge in our society being a
major and credible source of information. It is observed that women who are
regularly exposed to mass media messages have more knowledge about
contraceptives than their counterparts. Survey research method was adopted with
100 copies of questionnaires were administered. It is concluded that community
broadcasting media is educating the mass rural dwellers on how to utilize drug while
it educates them on matter like family planning and child-spacing e.t.c unlike
in the past where women used old and local materials such lime stone, bitter
lemon, charm and many more. It is recommended that mass media are advised to use
a simple language and pictures to illustrate their message to enhance
understanding among rural dwellers.
