ABSTRACT
The study
probes the impact which satellite television has on the cultural, behavioural
Value and academic performance of the Osun State Polytechnic students. The
research posit that the current trends in cultural behaviour of Osun State
Polytechnic students as observed among the students of Osun State Polytechnic,
Iree is significantly associated with their Perception of western culture and
exposure to western T.V. programmes. The assumption that foreign media content
has direct powerful effect is optimistic modernization theory. The research
applies the theory of acculturation of Osun State Polytechnic students that
take place as a result of exposure to westerner TV which influence their
perception of satellite TV reality and alters self image. Research question
receive statistic interpretation from the analysis of collected data using
survey research method to the cultural genocide.
