ABSTRACT
The
study examined the role of Public Relations in Non-Commercial Organisation with
a particular reference to Nigeria Red Cross. Public relations has remained a
powerful tool in building and maintaining mutual understanding between an
organization, firm, institution or corporate bodies and its various publics. It
also helps in building good image and satisfies the needed information of its
publics on behalf of organization. Companies and individuals are engaging the
service of public relations to help build, maintain and sustain its
communication and reputation at all time. However, survey research method was
adopted with the use of 100 copies of questionnaires to elicit data from the
selected respondents within Nigeria Red Cross of which 90 copies were retrieved
which the data analysis was based. It is recommended that organization need to
recognize the potentials of Public relations department/unit or any name call
it by empowering such division with both human and resources that will enable
it perform effectively while social media are advised to be adopted to
complement the existing media of communication.
