ABSTRACT
This study examined the impact of
Breath away (CRBC TV) programme as related to children behavioral problems; a
study of Yakurr Local Government Area. it
was conducted to know the number of children exposed to the Breath Away
Programme, Cross River State Broadcasting Television. And how parents and
guardians guide their children on the viewership of the programme. Quantitative
research survey method was adopted in which data collection instrument used
were questionnaires. It was concluded that most children in Yakurr Local
Government have access to Breath-Away television programme. That Child’s social
behavior is influenced by breathe-away (CRBC TV) programme. And that the more children
exposed to the programmes without the parental guidance, the more the influence
it would have on children. Hence if the producer of the breath-away programmes
clearly state programme viewers’ rating and parental guidance, the influence of
these programme will be reduced. Recommendations
are that the broadcasting and media houses should take into
consideration , its targeted audience before airing certain programmes. Viewers’
rating should be clearly indicated at the start of every breath-away programmes
and parental guidance advised. And Parents
should discipline and sensor the type of programmes their children are allowed
to watch from television stations and generally.
